10 months old

Tyler is 10 months old ALREADY!

From Baby Painter

Tyler is a very active little guy these days. He can now crawl very fast around the house and up the stairs. We have 13 steps in our house and he can make it up all of them very quickly. Tyler is also climbing on top of things that are short to the ground. Tyler is eating primarily finger foods these days due to his 6 teeth, he might have 8 very soon. Another one of his new found talents is that he can pick things up, for example a book, crawl with it, and put it on a table. Tyler is also squatting a little bit instead of falling down on his bottom and he has stood by himself (no support) for a few seconds here and there. I guess that means walking is soon to come.

Here are a couple of pictures of Tyler playing with his friends and cousins.

9 month checkup

August 26, 2008 on 12:31 pm | In Checkups | Comments Off

Today Tyler went for his 9 month checkup. He is doing GREAT!

Weight: 21lbs 7.5oz
Height: 30in

This puts his weight in the 60ish percentile and his height in the 90ish percentile. They didn’t write down the specific percentile for me so I am just going by my memory. He also had his finger pricked to do an iron test, that came back good- meaning he is not anemic. He had his third and final HepB shot, and then we went over to the lab next door and had some blood drawn to test for Celiac Disease. This is an allergy to wheat gluten which runs on Tyler’s paternal side of the family. We should know what the outcome of that test is next week.

So Tyler is doing all the things he should be doing for his age: picking things up and placing them down and then picking them back up again, responding to his name, feeding himself little foods and with some help he uses a spoon, crawling, pulling up, and babbling (not distinguishable words yet, but we know it will be any day now). Tyler seems to be a happy little boy- he laughs often and loves to be with his little blanket.

They told me to call back in early September to schedule a flu shot for him and then we will see them in November for his 1 year checkup. Time has FLOWN BY.

We are having a blast with him. So I guess on to walking and talking. Stay tuned. Hopefully new videos will come soon.

Crawling!

August 24, 2008 on 4:04 pm | In Videos | Comments Off

Tyler started crawling about 1 1/2 months ago. The funny thing is that he went after Toby the first time. Here is a short video of Tyler crawling down the hallway to Toby and following him back to where he started.

Summer Time! Seven Months Old

June 20, 2008 on 12:15 pm | In Seven Months | Comments Off

Look how big and his personality is starting to show too:

For Memorial Day Weekend we took a family trip to Jekyll Island, GA. This was a trip full of firsts for Tyler. He was actually awake for part of the flight over to the Island. Also this was his first stay in a hotel room and sleeping in the same room as Mom and Dad since he was 6 weeks old.

And a first for the entire family, we road around the island in a Red Bug electric car. That was fun, the weather was great.

He also dipped his toes in the Ocean. He was fine with the noise of the crashing waves, maybe because of the noise maker we have in his bedroom, yet he was a little hesitant when those waves touched his little legs. He did get used to it I think. Here is a picture

Father’s Day came and that brought with it another short plane ride to a Fish House for lunch and some swimming in our neighborhood pool. We have taken Tyler to the pool two times. He seems to enjoy it.

Well it was bound to happen. Jamie has taught Tyler how to harass Toby with the flashlight.

This month, Tyler has really gotten a hang of rolling over so he decided that he prefers sleeping on his side or his stomach. So we caught this picture of him in that sleeping position. Sleeping Babies look so peaceful, don’t you think.

Six Months Old

Here is the usual monthly picture on the arm of the recliner.

Tyler’s New measurements according to his Pediatrician appointment yesterday are:

Weight: 19lb 5.5oz (77 percentile)
Height: 27 1/2 ins (81 percentile)
Head circumference: 17 1/2 cm (67 percentile)

Tyler is doing great. He has had his front two bottom teeth poke through his gum in the last three weeks. He actually did very well with it. He was a little bit more fussy but nothing unmanageable. He is picking up everything in reach and laughing quiet often. The funniest thing to me in the last week is that he has started to laugh at Toby. For those of you that know Toby, aka circus dog, he does lots of tricks and Tyler thinks it is very funny to see him do them. He really likes “speak” and “play dead”.

A few other goings on with the family and Tyler include:

We were able to buy a jogging stroller in early April off of Craig’s List. If you have never used this service you really should it was great for us. We got a really good stroller for an excellent price and it had very few uses before we bought it. We have been jogging with him a couple times a week and at the end of April we ran our first 5k road race with him. Tyler did great, he started cheering every one on about mile 2 1/2.

Since Tyler can sit up now he can take baths like a big boy. We still have a hand on him at all times but he is doing well. He likes to splash and play with his bath toys.

Just plain cute!

Our first Mother’s Day was great. We had his Baby Dedication at church that day. We had both sets of Grandparents and Tia Amanda and Tim over for the occasion. Here is Tyler playing with his two Grandmas.

Tyler has also wanted to pet Billy. Even though Tyler often grabs and pulls Billy hair, Billy still comes back for more. Billy loves a good head rub.

We made a trip up to see Jamie’s parents and Tyler was able to play with his two cousins. Although Keighley and Connor just wanted to touch and get right up in Tyler’s face the whole time. But it was a pretty good visit. Here are a couple of pictures.

Tyler was talking to Keighley, but she said she didn’t understand what he was saying either :-)

Five Month Update!

April 16, 2008 on 12:43 pm | In Month 5 | Comments Off

Tyler is now 5 months old. Wow how he has grown!

During the past month Tyler made another trip in the family airplane. This one was to Roanoke, VA for Easter. Again, Tyler did very well in the plane, sleeping most of the way up there and back. We had a good trip visiting with cousins, Aunts, Uncle, and Grandparents. Here are a few pictures from our trip there.

Tyler also did a few new things this month:

He ‘hung-out” in this jumparoo!

“Tickled the ivories” with Mom!

Ate some Squash!

At the end of the month Tyler said he wanted to give everyone a big HUG and thank you for stopping in and checking out his progress.

4 month check-up

March 25, 2008 on 1:26 pm | In Checkups | Comments Off

Tyler went today for his 4 month checkup and vaccinations. He received the same vaccines that he received at 2 months. He cried a little bit more this time and actually bled a little bit. I didn’t see any blood last time- yet maybe the previous nurse was just quicker with the band-aid. Tyler is doing great, however they say he is the size of the average 6 month old. Speaking of which, he now:

weighs 16lbs 11.5oz (76 %)
is 26 1/2 inches (89%) tall
and his head circumference is 17 inches (68%).

Now that Tyler is over 14 lbs we have started feeding him solid foods. We started with some rice cereal last week. Tyler actually did pretty well, most of it went in his mouth and he swallowed it. However, we did capture this moment with the cereal on his lips, cheeks, and shirt. We now wear a bib while eating.

In a few days we will start giving him some veggies and see how he does with those. Tyler is definitely growing up, and quick. Keep checking back for updates.

4 months old celebrated with a little flying!

March 18, 2008 on 8:05 am | In Month 4 | Comments Off

Tyler turned 4 months old last Sunday. To celebrate we took our first family flight in N622JP to visit Grandma and Papa Painter. Tyler did very well. We bought him a child size headset, put a pacifier in his mouth and off we went. He was sleeping the entire way there and back. See the picture:

Here is a picture of Mom and Tyler gearing up for the flight. Our airplane is very comfortable so holding Tyler the entire way wasn’t too bad.

Here is the same picture pose we have taken since he was born- sitting on the arm of the recliner to show his growth. And yes his belly grew :-) He is longer too I think. We are estimating that he weighs 16lbs or so. We don’t go to his 4 month doctor appointment until the 25th so we have to wait a week longer for the official weigh in.

This month we set up his walker. His legs aren’t long enough or strong enough to push forward but he does push backwards a little bit.

Final comment. This has been a tiring month for both Dad and Tyler; therefore, there was some snoozing together :-)

Professionally Taken 3 month Photos

February 27, 2008 on 9:53 am | In Uncategorized | Comments Off

On February 20 Tyler and I went to JcPenny to have pictures taken professionally. I took a poll of friends with little ones and asked where I should go and I decided Penny’s. Well, they took a few good pictures and I will post small versions here. However, I think I am going to try another studio next time for Tyler’s 6 month pictures. I just don’t think that they really captured Tyler in all his cuteness :-). Nonetheless, here are the ones that I thought were pretty good.
